Journal of Emerging Research and Solutions in ICT, Vol. 1, No. 2, pp: 1–16 (2016)
Abstract: The present study examines the driving forces behind smart city implementations. Besides the results of international and European standardization efforts, the importance of holistic approach to cities and the issues of cities as complex systems will also be discussed. Furthermore, the relationship between cyber-physical systems and smart cities will be presented, and finally, certain conclusions will be drawn about the safety and security of smart cities. The urban structures and technological advances presented in this article mark the arrival of the next industrial revolution, which means that these intelligent and smart systems will cover all aspects of life.
